Success Tips from The Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort

If you’re on an entrepreneurial journey, you may have wondered this question at least once. What sets successful people apart? Below, we’ve compiled some quotes from Jordan Belfort, former Wall Street broker known as the Wolf of Wall Street, turned business and sales coach.

“The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it.”

Everything starts within you. Successful people are often in charge of their own destinies. Look out for the stories that you keep telling yourself.

Success Tip: To overcome your internal battle, write down what’s blocking your way to accomplish your goals. How are you telling yourself you can’t achieve your goals? Be honest and without judgment, write them down and sit with those thoughts. Then ask yourself if you really truly believe those thoughts or not.

“Winners use words that say ‘must’ and ‘will’.”

The word “try” often represents a state of being where you are not able to accomplish. Successful people often use definite words like “must,” “will”, or “do,” and chose to do so with their clear will and intention. The results? They do get things done.

Success Tip: Be careful with your word selection. Use definite words that represent your clear intentions rather than indefinite words like “try” or “should”. Be more conscious with the words you speak, because it represents your intentions.

“And act as if you are already a tremendous success, and as sure as I stand here today—you will become successful!”

Confidence is a key to success, but rather than being overly confident, this phrase should rather remind you to carry out your action as if you already made it. What would you do if you already achieved your goals and made it all happen? How would you carry yourself or deal with the situations that you’re dealing with now?

Success Tip: Imagine you have already accomplished your goals and have already made it. How would that person handle the current situations or tasks you’re handling now? Act accordingly as if you were already that person.
