Things to Consider When Searching for Short Term Office Space

There are plenty of long term options available when you are looking for a commercial space for your business, but what if you are searching for a place where you can stay for a year or less? The list of providers of short term office space is much shorter.

There are certainly short term options available, but you’ll want to do your research to make sure it’s a good fit for your business. If you are looking for short term office space, there are a few things to consider while conducting your search: 

Purpose of the Space

There could be any number of reasons that you are looking for a short term office space. Maybe you need a place to conduct business while your company is in some sort of transition. You may need a place to work from while you are in a new city for an extended business trip. Consider whether each potential space is in a convenient location for your commute. Are there sites or businesses nearby that would be beneficial for your business? Do the surrounding businesses bring potential clients or customers near your business? These should all be factors when deciding on your space. 

Is Necessary Equipment Included?

You may need professional videoconferencing equipment, scanning/copying equipment, projectors, or other amenities to run your business effectively. If some of the tools that your business needs are available for use at one or more provider, make sure to factor this into your cost comparison between providers. You can often save a great deal of money by finding a short term office space that features all of the equipment that you need to run your business.

Flexible Timeline

Consider the flexibility of the short term office space provider. Does the lease agreement give you the option to extend your lease at the end of the term? Try to find a place that would fit your needs and budget if you decided to stay for a longer period than anticipated. You may find that your “transitional” space is actually a great fit for your business’s needs.
